Backyard Games That You and Your Kids Can Play and Have Fun With

I don't know about you, but I have some very fond memories of playing backyard games with all my friends.

We didn't have a great deal of money growing up and we didn't have video games. What we did have however was an imagination and a lot of friends to play outside with. We learned a great variety of games for kids, we always had a great time and we always went to bed early and slept well.

Debbie and I think that it is important on so many levels to have a variety of games for kids to play outside. It is our belief that kids need to be outside playing, getting exercise and learning how to interact with other human beings.

We feel what they don't need is spending all day and night sitting in front of a TV watching silly shows or playing video games.

It is our hope that as our site grows, so will our collection of games for kids to play.

For the younger kids we have some very basic backyard games they can play, like kick the can and hide and seek. These children’s games have been around a long time. They are easy to learn, simple play and they keep your kids active.

Games like these also teach your kids how to follow rules and how to interact socially with others at an early age. Yes, they get to learn the basic life skills they will need when they go off to school and at the same time they get to have some fun with their friends.

Of course as your kids get a bit older, their games will change as well. For instance backyard games like croquet are a great game the whole family can play together. Badminton is another great game the whole family can enjoy.

Here is just a small list of outdoor games for young kids that we have.

As this site matures so will this list, so please do check back once in a while to see if we have any new backyard games for your kids to play.

I know I have been keying in on the kids so far, but this site isn't just about them. What about some games for the grown ups as well. These are outdoor games that both older kids and adults can play alike.

Like I have said before, Debbie and I used to entertain a great deal. When we were younger and had a larger backyard, the game of choice at our parties was always volleyball. It is a game that can be played informally or seriously. For those of you who are serious players we have the rules and court dimension so you can get it right.

Side Note: If you have serious and competitive friends I highly suggest that you get well made and heavy duty equipment so it doesn't get destroyed.

There is one other game that we will discuss on this site and it is darts.

Most people might not consider darts to be a backyard game, but I do. The reason is because many of my friends had dart boards set up in their garages. It was something to do at night in the summer time.

The problem was not enough people knew the rules to all the different games. So for all you guys that like to hang out with your buds in the summer, have a beer and catch a game of darts, this part of the site is dedicated to you. The rules we have here should help settle any arguments that might come up, because I know it gets competitive out there.

We hope you enjoy our selection of backyard games. As our site grows we would love to hear from you with any thoughts you may have or ideas for new games that we can post.
