Barbeque Recipes - Smoking Your Food is a Great Way To Cook Your Food
We hope that you enjoy some of our barbeque recipes as much as we have.
I have grilled my food for many years, however after living in the south for a while I learned the pleasures of true barbeque and smoking your food. Remember there is a big difference between BBQ and grilling.
Grilling is cooking your food fast, but when you barbeque you are cooking and smoking your meat slowly. Your cooking time is measured in hours not minutes. It actually can be a great way to spend a Saturday.
Some weekends we would just experiment with different recipes, changing them to suit our tastes. We would also try our own and every time we found a barbeque recipe that we liked, we saved it.
One thing we really enjoy doing is smoking many different things at once.
There are a number of different types of BBQ smokers out there. We have a vertical smoker so we can stack different types of food all at the same time. The game plan is to have some foods finish before others.
By cooking this way we can sample and eat all day long rather than having one large meal. When doing this though, you do want to plan it so you have wood chips that are compatible for all the food you are smoking. That can be the tricky part.
For example we might have salmon on the top shelf. This is a food that smokes up rather quickly. We also would have sausage on the top rack as well, another quick food. Then we might have ribs on a lower rack and then whole chickens towards the bottom. These are foods that take a bit longer to cook.
When we were done cooking, we had a great deal of food to eat. Some we would save for the next day or two and the rest we would shrink wrap and freeze for a later date.
Being empty nesters ourselves, quick and easy meals rule the day. Smoking and cooking our food this way satisfies that need for us.
