Our Neighborhood BBQ Cook Off

The idea for a BBQ cook off between myself and some of my neighbors came to me one day during a conversation with my friend Hugh Ford.

We were talking food, comparing recipes and I thought, hey let's have a barbecue cook off together one weekend. We can invite other friends over and have them judge the end result.

So we did, we had a great time and we all ate well. Actually when Hugh and his wife Lois come over we always have a fun time.

Of course our weekend cook off happened in my own backyard. I almost forgot to tell you, but we actually live on a golf course as well. Life is good.

We decided to save this competition for a time that my dad would be visiting. It was the perfect time for us to all get together and it made sense to have our little barbecue contest at that time.

Might as well let my dad enjoy the fruits of our labor as well, so September was the month to get it all started. It was a great way to spend a day with good friends and family.

The BBQ cook off went off without a hitch and in the end we all ate very well.

This particular barbecue contest had to do with BBQ ribs. As you know I have a specific rib recipe that can be used for grilling or smoking.

Also if you remember, this specific recipe calls for a dry rub to be used. I used my grill with indirect heat to make the ribs. My buddy Hugh on he other hand smoked his ribs and used a unique wet sauce at the end to finish up the meal.

You know where my recipe is, however you can click on Hugh's name to go to our contest page and Hugh's recipe.

I am not quite sure what this section might look like as this site grows or where it will take us. I do however think that will be part of the adventure.

We do have specific sections of this site reserved for our readers contributions, but I did think that it would also be fun to have a separate section for any neighbors that might want to challenge me and have a BBQ cook off using their own favorite recipe against mine.

I guess only time will tell where we end up, however in the mean time I do hope you enjoy all the recipes that may come your way from these competitions.

They are free for you to use and enjoy so have at it and please write to me with your comments and votes. Who knows, your comments may end up on our site as well.

Here are my various neighbors contributions. You be the judge who's recipe is better.

Hopefully you will enjoy some of my friends recipes and remember, if you feel daring, please feel free to visit our viewers sections and contribute a grilling recipe or a barbecue recipe of your own.

We would love to sample and show off your creations for the all world to see.
